Terry has three children that he is very proud of:

The youngest – What he calls his wild child – Cody Robert Amburgey is a Marine. Cody served a year in Iraq. We pray that he is not sent to Afghanistan. . We are proud that he followed through with what he felt he needed to do. We are proud of his service in Iraq.

His daughter – Maureen Loretta Amburgey – who Terry says is his best looking and brightest was thrown a curve in her life. Maureen - her nickname is { B } is tough and will fight through this. Hopefully we will be able to add a section to this website of her work in the future.

His Oldest Son – Terence Andrew Amburgey – is now located in Cincinnati. Terry, who I believe has earned three different College Degrees is a bit of a free spirit. Terence did not speak until well after his third birthday – but has not stopped talking since. He is a joy to be around and very fun person.

Mr. Amburgey was born in Detroit, Michigan. His parents were Jeannette Bailey Amburgey and Robert H. Amburgey from Hindman, Kentucky.

Mr. Amburgey’s stay in Detroit was very brief as his father was looking to return to Hindman, Kentucky. Terry's father found work on his way to Kentucky in Cincinnati, Ohio. Terry Amburgey was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio area. He graduated Greenhill’s High School in the suburbs of Cincinnati and was known more his athletic ability then for artistic ability. Although his artistic ability was well known by his teachers in his early years, but it was overshadowed by his athletic ability.

Athletics lead him to the University of Cincinnati where he earned a full scholarship for football. Terry’s athletic ability actually earned him scholarship offers at min. of 15 different colleges including, West Point Military Academy, Air Force Academy, Ball State University, University of Wyoming, Rutgers etc. etc.. Terry’s father forbid him from the Military Academies because this was during the height of the Vietnam War and his father a veteran of WWII did not want his to fight in an undeclared war.

Terry choose to attend the University of Cincinnati because at the time it offered a program that was in only offered at two Universities’ in the country. The program was called “ Foreign Affairs”. It trained you in international business and languages preparing you for a career in the United States Diplomatic Corp. Unfortunately That great plan was torn apart just as Terry received his Peace Corps assignment. The Peace Corps was going to be a break before graduate school at Georgetown University.

Terry had received his assignment country in the Peace Corp when financial difficulties became too much and a change of direction took place. That change leads him through a number of successful business opportunities with stays in Minnesota where two of his children were born, Michigan where his first child was born, Kentucky, back to Cincinnati and finally Long Island, New York.

It is New York that he took up Fine Art Photography. Terry revived his long dorment artistic side from his youth in Cincinnati. It was in New York that his artistic past came back to its fullest extent. Terry is currently a member of the oldest CO OP Gallery on Long Island – B J Spoke Gallery - Huntington, New York. B J Spoke is located on the north shore of Long Island. Terry has also been a member of a Gallery in Manhattan. Terry's work has been displayed not only in Manhattan and Long Island but also, Canada, Germany, Los Angales, Cincinnati, etc etc. . Terry Amburgey has published a book of Haiku Poetry and His Fine Art Photography called { NATURE'S CATHEDRAL }. Terry wrote the poetry and can now add the title of { Fine Art Photography & Poet }. Terry's book can be purchased from this website and by mid August from Barnes & Noble and Amazon.com
